Öur client is a long established and growing meat processing company offering an extensive range of premium beef products to the retail, food service, and wholesale domestic market.

They are now looking for an experienced Payroll Officer to join the Accounts Department, this is a part time position working over 3 days (MON -TUE - WED).

The Payroll Officer will ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, enabling their staff to receive their paycheques on time and understand their salaries thoroughly. This role is vital in auditing and verifying timekeeping records, deductions, and withholdings in compliance with state and national laws. The Payroll Officer will also collaborate with the accounting department to ensure the smooth operation of the entire business, reporting directly to the Finance Manager.

You must be able to work autonomously, prioritize, use your initiative, meet deadlines and balance competing demands. Ideally you will possess excellent communication (written and verbal) and computer skills.

**In this role, you will**:

- Collect, calculate, and enter data to maintain and update payroll information.
- Ensure efficient processing of all payroll transactions.
- Compile summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and non-taxable wages, and generate reports.
- Calculate payroll liabilities, including federal and state income taxes, social security taxes, and workers' compensation payments.
- Resolve payroll discrepancies and address employee inquiries regarding payroll services.
- Maintain payroll operations by adhering to policies and procedures.
- Develop ad hoc financial and operational reports as needed.
- Verify timekeeping records, consult employees about discrepancies, and record payroll data accurately.
- Adjust employee tax status and withholding information as required.
- Prepare manual checks and initiate direct deposits.
- Maintain compliant policies and procedures for payroll processing.
- Assist the Finance Manager with accounts preparation, report preparation, and reconciliation.
- Reconcile reports with third-party records, such as bank statements.

**To succeed in this role, you will**:

- Proven work experience in a payroll position. Minimum 3 years.
- Highly developed communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel.
- Experience with EBAs and/or Awards.
- Familiarity with payroll software such as MYOB, MicroPay, and Miterfinch/Time Management System.
- Strong customer focus.
- Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
- Ability to develop positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
