The role of the Category Manager - Domestic Freight is to develop and execute best in class procurement processes in order to drive effective sourcing strategies and contract management aligned with the Opal Group strategic priorities and business needs.
You will contribute to the success of Opal by:
- Conduct strategic sourcing projects and negotiations for Domestic Freight related categories. Category responsibilities include (but not limited to):
- Domestic Road - local, intrastate & interstate (AU & NZ);
- Domestic Rail - local, intrastate & interstate (AU & NZ);
- Other Category involvement as required to support the Logistics Procurement team.
- Manage supply base and stakeholders of existing agreements
- Sourcing and management of other Domestic Freight related categories as required
- Manage spend compliance and leakage reporting
- Establish and maintain strong and efficient communication networks throughout ANZ regional businesses.
- Spend Analysis for the purpose of building savings pipelines for all Domestic Freight related categories.

Specifically for this role, you will have;
- Relevant degree or diploma - Engineering, Finance, Supply Chain Management or Commerce
- Minimum 8 years relevant procurement and supply chain experience
- Experience working within a freight provider environment highly desirable
- Managed significant category in excess of $100M
- Knowledge of procurement concepts and processes
- Excellent negotiation and influencing skills
- Project management skills
- Obtaining, analysing and drawing conclusions from complex business and market data
- Sustainable & resilient transport solution mapping
- Experience utilising SAP Ariba
