**The Opportunity**:
We are seeking a Technical Assistant to join the Disease Model Unit. Under direction, you will assist with animal husbandry as well as several ongoing projects. This position will enhance the research out put of the Institute through interaction with researchers, scientists and other internal and external to the Institute.

Training will be provided to all successful applicants.

**The role will see you with primary responsibility of**:
Co-ordinating routine husbandry and maintenance of laboratory animals according to experimental and laboratory protocols
Colony management for specific research groups
Providing real-time services to meet internal and external stakeholder needs
- co ordinates routine Maintenance requirements
Maintaining basic laboratory and administrative recording skills
Maintaining laboratory stock inventory and ensure that stocks are kept in supply for researchers
Carrying out approved experimental protocols and experimental techniques

**About You**:
Completion of a Diploma of Animal Technology (or equivalent)
Demonstrated ability to maintain high quality work output while managing competing priorities
Excellent customer service skills, preferably in a laboratory environment
Organisational and time management skills
