**The opportunity**:
We currently have an exciting new opportunity for a Consultant to join our growing NSW Social Planning team, based in Sydney. The goal of the Social Planning team is to support clients to design and plan in social value creation.
As a Consultant in the Social Planning team, you will need to demonstrate an understanding of the social challenges and opportunities facing cities and communities across New South Wales to inform social and strategic planning outcomes. You will be able to demonstrate experience and interest in the following areas:
- Social impact assessments (SIA)
- Social baseline and community needs analysis
- Safety through environment and design
- Social and community infrastructure assessments
**You will**:
- Conduct primary and secondary research, including qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis, ABS and other publicly available data, literature review, social policy, community engagement outcomes and best practice trends in a range of social planning and social value matters
- Provide input into a range of projects including social impact assessments, community needs assessments, social infrastructure strategies and assessments
- Respond quickly and communicate in a clear, concise and transparent manner to internal and external clients
- Contribute to writing reports using accessible language and graphics to communicate complex information succinctly
- Provide input into draft proposals, tenders and submissions for projects
- Work to specification and deadlines, and within commercial parameters
**About You**:
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant social science discipline (e.g., sociology, human geography, anthropology, social or community planning)
- Some experience in social planning and/or strategy is desirable, ideally gained in a consultancy or local council environment
