BioConsult SH GmbH & Co. KG are hiring an environmental consultant to monitor seabirds and marine megafauna in the context of offshore energy installations in Australian waters using digital aerial video imagery.

BioConsult SH is an independent ecological research and consulting company based in Germany focussing on environmental expert reports, protection concepts, and feasibility studies. Together with our sister companies Biotope in France and HiDef Aerial Surveying in the UK we are known for our international market leading innovative digital aerial surveys, which have been deployed in twelve countries over three continents. We are expanding rapidly across all our services, combining technical and scientific excellence, working with renewables and conservation projects, primarily in an offshore environment. We work on a range of projects from our unique digital aerial surveys, ornithological and marine mammal statistical analysis in addition to research and development projects in fields such as machine learning and artificial intelligence.

**The Role**:
The position holder will be responsible for our emerging operations and management services in Australia. The role requires assisting with effective delivery of our operations, maintain critical business records, and have regular contact with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities include:

- Dealing with relevant authorities and regulators overseeing environmental management and infrastructure activities offshore;
- Carrying out and understanding technical work and maintenance on our bespoke high-definition camera system;
- Managing the system operation on aircraft-based surveys over open sea;
- Ensuring our data acquisition has been captured in line with internal processes of aerial video footage;
- Produce HSQE and technical reports based on client data and other areas of the business;
- Liaising with clients and providers, to maintain and deliver our project program;
- Supporting tenders writing and marketing in the region;
- Developing on a working knowledge of the project process for marine wildlife offshore surveys, with the view of taking European experiences to a new Australian emerging market;
- Ability to effectively communicate with clients using accurate information;
- Working closely with our projects team in Europe to ensure deadlines are met.

The post holder will bring the following skills set:

- Educated to degree level or with a demonstrable relevant work-based experience in offshore wildlife surveys;
- Previous experience of working within the wildlife aerial surveying offshore industry for a minimum of 3 years;
- Experienced in project management, preferably with previous experience in dealing with government agencies;
- Understanding of technical processes related to digital aerial photography;
- Profound engineering skills and practiced handling of high-resolution camera equipment;
- Comfortable flying in small aircrafts and free from fear of heights;
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail;
- Adaptable and able to work under pressure and prioritise tasks;
- Ability to organise and prioritise your own workload to ensure deliverables are met;
- Be an effective communicator with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels with a variety of stakeholders;
- Ability to work effectively as a team member and independently, working under mínimal supervision and managing time efficiently;
- Exceptional time management, facilitation, and organizational skills;
- Excellent client-facing with excellent internal communication skills;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills;
- Working knowledge of professional social media;
- Ability to work with technical specialists, converse confidently, and where necessary challenge their proposals and formulate alternatives;
- Possess excellent facilitation, communication and data analysis skills and have a natural ability to influence others;
- Have a general enthusiasm and overall interest in wildlife, renewables, and the environment;
- Able to work from home and travel within Australia;
- Willingness to adapt working hours to the European market.

**Benefits and remuneration**:Annual salary between $90.000 and $105.000 depending on experience level.
