**The Role**
- The Associate Principal will work closely with the sector leader to drive sector growth, manage teams, and win projects. Lead and manage the delivery of major projects within budget and to agreed program, exceeding client expectations. Act as a senior leader within HDR act as a role model and demonstrate professionalism, integrity, judgment, passion and accountability across all internal and external relationships.
**Key Accountabilities**
1. Project Delivery
- Lead major projects or several smaller projects in all aspects of project delivery. Including:
- Development of project briefs, fee budgets and project programs
- Client, project and design management
- Deliverables monitoring and planning, documentation to completion and site phase works
- Leading regular project reviews and end of project evaluations
- Contract administration, fee & variation negotiation and management and periodic cost to complete review
- Resource management and participation in the resource group with the view to ensuring the best outcomes for the overall business.
- Promote best practice and industry standards with regards to project management and the technical design processes across all our offices within Australia.
- Work in partnership with the Technical and QMS Leads to manage and reduce the delivery phase risk profile of all projects across the studio
- Provide review and support framework for all major projects nationally
- Communicate the commercial drivers that influence the project to the project team to build knowledge and accountability more broadly within the business.
- Manage overall project financial targets
2. Leadership
- Proactively manage people and project issues escalating and seeking advice when necessary
- Coach and mentor team members on an ongoing basis to support them in achieving their goals
- Lead and manage project teams and support the ongoing development of individuals to deliver successful performance outcomes.
- Facilitate and document staff onboarding check ins and performance reviews
3. Business Development
- Contribute to delivery of the overall business development strategy, including the achievement of Australian Senior Leadership and Global Sector Leadership Net Fee Booked Goals (NFB).
- Establish new client connections, extend current network of decision-makers; and utilise to and secure new business opportunities.
- Manage client relationships effectively to ensure they are strong and enduring partnerships.
- Support in the technical preparation of project bids and fees to support our pursuits team
- Provide early technical design support to Principals / Design Leaders during competition, concept, schematic, and design development of projects.
- Build and facilitate relationships with others internally across project and industry sectors to ensure the achievement of the overall business goals
- Proactively assist in the marketing of the business internally and externally
- Take action to win work for the business
**Preferred Qualifications/Experience**
- Proven success at consulting, developing, and executing targeted market and client strategies within the Defence sector
- Experience in medium to large scale projects over 50million CCE
**Required Qualifications**
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture
- 10 years related experience
- A minimum 5 years project management experience
- Registered Architect
- Must be able to lead a team on projects
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project)
- Knowledge and experience within the local and regional market
- Good planning and mentoring skills
