Apprenticeship Careers Australia (ACA) currently have an amazing opportunity for a 1st Year Mechanical Fitting Apprentice to join our service and manufacturing team located in Prestons. The role provides assembling fabricated parts to produce tools and machines Maintenance of production machinery which would include fault finding, pneumatics, hydraulics, fabrication and machining of parts as per sample or drawing.

**Mechanical Engineering**:
Metal Fitters and Machinists fit and assemble fabricated metal parts into products, set up machining tools, production machines, and operate machining tools and machines to shape metal stock and castings. You will be trained to complete the following tasks: Measuring and marking out materials for fabrication, Keeping records of operations, safety and maintenance procedures, Cutting, grinding, and shaping metal and other materials, Interpreting diagrams, drawings, specifications and plans to determine suitable material and sequence of operations, Diagnosing and repairing faults with tools and machinery and perform regular maintenance Setting up tools and machinery for fabrication process, guides, stops and other controls Monitoring fabrication processes Operating specialised tools and machinery

You will gain practical experience working both in workshops and on-site alongside our highly skilled Engineering Tradespeople across Sydney whilst studying to complete a Certificate III in Engineering Mechanical Trade at TAFE.

**Duties May Include**:

- Engineering work that includes traditional metalworking skills and new technologies
- Assisting tradesmen and technicians
- Learning and experiencing a broad range of skills including mechanical fitting, machining, toolmaking, and milling.
- Working with specialised and high-end equipment with precise tolerances
- Observe and receive training to work in the field
- Installing, servicing, repairing, and general maintenance
- Must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
- A driver's license is preferred but not essential
- Mechanical and technical aptitude
- Preferably good with maths and sciences (Problem solver, fault finder)
- Eye for detail, ability to follow procedures and work safely
- Willing to undertake formal Qualification
