- Location: Perth Head Office, WA, AU- 31-May-2023This is a unique and exciting time to be a part of the Tech & Data Services team at Western Power. We are at the forefront of the energy transition in leveraging existing and new technologies, including microgrid, stand-alone power systems (SPS), battery storage solutions and incorporating increased levels of renewable energy such as roof top solar into the energy system. We're transforming the electricity network ensuring a cleaner, brighter and more resilient energy supply for the next generation.

We're also working hard on enabling the decarbonisation of the energy system by converting more of our energy consumption to electricity, including electric vehicles (EVs) as well as other initiatives to enable industry sectors to reduce emissions by making the switch.

We support Western Power’s objectives through fit-for-purpose data so the business can extract maximum value from our assets in any work location. We need your support to ensure appropriate techniques and tools are used to deliver solutions to the business that they can use to generate insights that yield better & faster decisions, using data they can trust and understand.

**About the Role**:
**As an Information Specialist at Western Power, you will**:

- Develop and review high-level and detailed technical architecture solutions, leveraging leading frameworks, approaches and languages
- Assist in the augmentation and creation of new data models and load patterns
- Deliver and support testing and implementation of ETL/ELT loads and pipelines
- Understand the business data needs, leading to model designs and data loads that meet complex business requirements
- Ensure that ETL is maintained with reuse in mind, and emphasise modern approaches and techniques to data loading and transformation
- Utilise Western Power’s processes, standards and tools to achieve well-engineered results, conducting peer reviews of external delivery partner design and development work against principles and standards

**About you**:
The successful applicant will be experienced and competent in the following:

- Strong knowledge of ICT development and project delivery methodologies, continuous deployment, automated unit and functional testing
- Experience in managing large volumes of data and ETL/ELT load patterns
- Skills in performance tuning relating to data acquisition and provisioning
- Confidence and ability to speak in public forums and ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel
- Effective influencing and negotiation skills, ability to facilitate collaboration between stakeholders with differing opinions
- Prior experience interviewing end-users for insight on functionality, interface, problems and / or usability issues
- Strong team player and experience of working with external service providers
- Oracle or Snowflake database experience would be desirable
