About The Role

As an Engineering Manager you will be leading an autonomous team, owning a specific problem space in our mobile SDK development team. You will be working closely with software engineers and product managers in your team on solving interesting problems and driving business value, while collaborating with other engineering leaders across the business.

**Responsibilities**:

- Contributing to the collaborative development processes within the team and organisation from across both product and technical domains
- Identifying and proposing improvements to the current system architecture that emphasise reliability and scalability
- Design, develop, test, deploy and improve code that solves real-world problems
- Own complex product features end to end - with a focus on customer impact
- Manage priorities, deadlines and deliverables
- Operate with autonomy in solving problems
- Collaborate with other teams to deliver new products
- Build libraries and frameworks that others can use
- Take responsibility for system health, monitoring and alerting, and CI/CD pipelines
- Support and mentor other engineers on best practices, architecture, and quality

**Requirements**:

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 7+ years of experience in commercial software development experience designing, building and operating large scale mobile platforms and 2+ years of experience in managing engineering teams
- Polyglot engineer with commercial experience in one of the following: iOS and/or Android development, C#, Python, JavaScript or Go. You have written a lot of performant easy-to-maintain code using best practices. You can smell bad code and provide constructive feedback during code review.
- Strong complex system architecture design experience and understanding; space/time complexity, API contract design and stewardship, AWS cloud-based infrastructure.
- Learn quickly: demonstrated ability to quickly understand and absorb new information. Passion for technology and eager to dive in to figure out how things work.
- Problem-solving skills: able to use first principles - using both qualitative and quantitative data - to solve complex problems.
- Leadership: organise and motivate engineering contributors, work with the product team to schedule in an efficient and productive manner, understand business logic and be able to translate into appropriate technical solutions
- Excellent communication skills in English - you can explain complex ideas to technical and non-technical audiences both verbally and in writing.
