The Programs and Place team was recently restructured to include all aspects of public engagement: exhibitions, public programs, education, visitor experience, venue hire and property.

Programming has been identified as a strategic priority in the corporate plan: sharing the collection including through innovative, immersive and experiential events, screenings and programs.

The Programs and Place team is seeking a highly motivated applicant to fill a non-ongoing Creative Producer & Program Coordinator role. The role involves the design and delivery of programs and events in Canberra with the goal of increasing and deepening engagement with contemporary and historic Australian audio-visual material. These activities are designed for a variety of audiences. They are delivered within the budget allocated and to a high standard, meeting key performance targets and maximising the contribution of the team to the NFSA’s key strategic directions.

Under broad direction from the Manager, Programs and Visitor Experience:

- Curate and design public programs and events, in collaboration with the Manager, Programs & Visitor Experience, including:

- A suite of screenings and presentations in our award-winning heritage listed Arc Cinema and Theatrette
- Medium to large scale experiences and events that celebrate our collection, audio-visual culture, creativity and the arts across Acton’s spaces.
- Collaborations between the NFSA and like-minded organisations to create engaging programs and experiences.
- Manage the successful delivery of a suite public programs and events undertaken by the Programs team. This includes:

- Working closely with the Visitor Experience Coordinator to confirm staffing, ticketing, hospitality catering and facilities requirements and produce event run sheets.
- Working closely with the Technical Coordinator ensure technical delivery of events including screenings, presentations, music performances etc.
- Liaise with guests, talent, stakeholders and VIPs to manage and deliver to expectations.
- Liaise with the Venue Hire Coordinator to successfully deliver public programming and corporate hires.
- Produce or assist with venue hire, stakeholder events and conferences.
- Manage event budgets and timelines, taking responsibility for outcomes.
- Create, maintain, and negotiate partnerships with external stakeholders (including film festivals, film and music distributors, rights holders, museums, archives, universities etc).
- Represent the NFSA to stakeholders including government departments, cultural and industry agencies, and at NFSA events and activities, and relevant external conferences and forums.
- Build collaborative and productive working relationships across the institution and with key external stakeholders.
- Promote the APS Values, Code of Conduct and NFSA leadership values and model behaviours that demonstrate and commitment to these principles.

**Selection Criteria**

- Highly developed public programming skills, with a focus on events and audience engagement.
- Demonstrated project management, strategic thinking, and creative problem-solving skills, with a focus on events management.
- High level inter-personal communication and negotiation skills and proven experience in stakeholder management.
- Proven ability to work within budget allocations and timeframes.
- Knowledge of the Australian film and sound industries and education, cultural and GLAM sectors, including good relationship networks.

- Minimum 3 years’ experience in event delivery, or equivalent, with focus on public and cultural programs.
- Experience in supervising teams.
