**The Role**:
The Manager, Building Policy and Programs undertakes a range of strategic and technical functions that facilitate business efficiency and workforce development within the Building, Policy and Programs section of the Land and Built Environment directorate. This role is a key leadership and management position providing expert advice and leadership in the development and implementation of building-related reform, policies and projects. The key focus areas for this role include:

- Provision of leadership and expert advice on building policy, regulation, codes, standards, and practices.
- Supporting the State’s building framework through the Minister for Planning and the State Planning Commission.
- Working collaboratively within the national building framework to develop policy, standards, and the National Construction Code.
- Developing, monitoring, and amending the State Government’s building policy and technical standards that enhance the safety and amenity of the built environment.
- Working closely with academia, federal, state, and local government agencies, industry stakeholders and community groups.
- Represent the Department/State on various working groups and national committees.

The Manager, Building Policy and Programs reports to the Director, Land and Built Environment and will liaise extensively with PLUS executive, senior management and provides support and guidance to less experienced professional and administrative staff. The Manager provides advice to Ministers on matters relevant to the role, as well as, liaising and engaging with a wide range of stakeholders across Commonwealth, State and local government, the private sector (including industry bodies) and the general public.

**About You**:
To be successful in this position, you must be able to demonstrate experience across the following key capabilities:

- Leading and managing a range of complex and critical programs, projects, systems and/or services that are consistent with agency and whole of government strategies, policies and priorities and deliver the Section’s objectives, including leading and managing change within the Department.
- Resolving complex issues with innovative solutions that are consistent with the SA strategic objectives and national and international developments.
- Leading, influencing and motivating staff, clients and others in the achievement of difficult and sometimes conflicting objectives.
- Establishing and maintaining networks.
- Negotiating ideas and concepts with the Chief Executive, Executive Directors and Managers to achieve the adoption of specific procedures, methods and strategies.
- Actively participate and contribute to responsible and safe work practices.
- Embrace diversity and cultural differences in the workplace.

**Desirable Qualification**:
A recognised degree or recognised post graduate qualification in architecture, engineering, building surveying, construction management, building, public policy, law, or related discipline. Eligible for Accreditation as ‘Accredited Professional - Building Level 1, under the Planning, Development, and Infrastructure Act 2016.

**Special Conditions**
- Successful applicants may be required to obtain a satisfactory Department of Human Services Criminal History Check or National Police Check prior to employment. A renewal will be required every 3 years.
- Current driver’s licence.
- May be required to work out of normal hours from time to time.

**Remuneration**:
MAS3 - $124,108
