**Harrisdale Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to appoint a teacher of English with the dedication and drive to develop a culture of excellence in teaching and learning.**

The successful applicant will ideally be enthusiastic, creative and passionate in regard to Literacy and English. The successful applicant should work with a team approach to contributing to and supporting the collaborative approach already in place to further develop a culture of excellence in the English teaching and learning program.

They should possess highly effective interpersonal skills, be student and relationship focused, innovative and motivated. They should also have an inclusive approach with strong teaching and classroom management skills and the ability to challenge and engage all students, promoting an environment of active and positive learning.

Harrisdale SHS is one of the largest schools in Western Australia, drawing its student enrolment from diverse geographic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. With a student population more than 2000 and approximately 200 teaching staff and 100 support staff on campus, the school is inclusive and comprehensive, providing courses for Years 7 to 12. It is the school of choice for many local and international families.

The school is committed to the intellectual, creative and social development of our students by the provision of stimulating and relevant programs and orderly teaching and classroom practices. Pastoral care and academic achievement are very strong. Community support and parental involvement are cornerstones of our culture.

Harrisdale is one of the state’s newest schools, established in 2017, and is already a leading school that is being recognised for its outstanding achievements and results. The school operates a comprehensive Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) program, encompassing high quality Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR), General, and Vocational Education and Training (VET) based courses to help supply a holistic education setting.

The school offers a number of specialist programmes to meet student needs and interests. These programmes include the Gifted and Talented programme, Specialised Music, Volleyball, and Netball, as well as many after-school clubs, sporting teams, debating, and a language programme in French and Japanese. Harrisdale SHS prides itself on an ethos that all students will be successful through an emphasis on excellence in teaching and learning.

Our new business plan, 'Impact for Excellence', drives our school's ethos, prioritising culture, strategy, and actions for impactful teaching and learning. We focus on generating positive effects that benefit our entire school community and each individual student, emphasising excellence in teaching, learning, leadership, wellbeing, and community connections.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

**Start date: Induction in Perth 1-5 July 2024, for a Term 3 start (15 July)**

$78,397 - $113,568 per annum (SEA GA 2021)
