This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 3, 2024
Girrawheen Senior High School (SHS) are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and dedicated English teacher to join their team.
The successful applicant should possess a sound understanding of the English Curriculum and Senior School English courses. Applicants will ideally have the necessary knowledge, skills, and understanding to prepare students for National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) and online literacy and numeracy assessment (OLNA). Candidates who have capacity to teach Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) will be highly regarded. We are seeking applicants who have proven abilities in learning program planning and instructional practice to facilitate improved student outcomes. The ability to teach across other learning areas would be highly regarded.
The successful applicant should be able to provide engaging, relevant, and meaningful learning experiences. The learning environment you create should be differentiated, challenging, caring and creative, while catering for a range of needs that sees all students progressing and achieving. You should be able to utilise evidence-based teaching practices whilst employing a range of assessment and reporting methods.
You will ideally support the implementation of the school business plan, work and teach in a team environment, and be committed to whole school approaches and initiatives. The successful applicant should be able to build and maintain a positive learning environment therefore effective classroom management is highly regarded in this role. It will be highly regarded for the successful candidate to be familiar with the Teaching for Impact Framework and have an understanding of what effective teachers believe, know, and do to enable students to succeed.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
