Plant Technician

We have an opportunity for an experienced and self-motivated **Tradesperson (Electrical) **to join the team at our Port Kembla operations as Plant Technician.
An integrated member of the Production and Maintenance team, your role as a Plant Technician will be to safely operate and maintain both plants of our Port Kembla operations. This means setting up and operating the plant, planning and programming maintenance, contractor management activities and undertaking improvement programs to deliver a reliable plant. Should have good ability to analyse and troubleshoot plant issues.
As this is a shift role, an exceptional commitment to safety is a focus. You will contribute to the achievement of our site health and safety standards, including risk management and implementing a high standard of housekeeping.

**About the role**:
In this role you will be required to:
- Conduct day to day operations of the plant mills
- Perform site maintenance, including undertaking preventative maintenance tasks
- Organise raw materials on site
- Perform quality control checks
- Undertake small projects
- Manage contractors and perform contractor approvals for site works
- Complete general housekeeping to ensure a clean and hazard free environment
**Hours of work**:
The role is permanent full time opportunity, operating on a unique day, afternoon and night shift roster providing 24/7 coverage.
Your package will **include a roster allowance and weekend shifts paid in addition to your regular rostered hours**.
**About you**:
- Ideally you have a trade qualification (electrical) with experience as an operator or maintainer in a heavy manufacturing industry
- You have demonstrated fault finding and problem solving skills
- Some hydraulics experience preferred but not essential
- PLC and network troubleshooting skill with experience of SCADA programming, networks and/or communications would be a plus
- Great communication skills
- Microsoft Office and basic SAP skills (not essential)
- Team player who is a self starter and can work independently
