**The Opportunity**
Our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility is looking for an **Electrical Technician** in our **Slabmaking Maintenance Team** based in **Port Kembla**. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.
The Slab Yard serves as the temporary storage facility for our steel slabs. These slabs are later transported to our Mills for further processing, using a combination of manual and automated cranes with lifting capacities ranging from 20 to 65 tons. In line with technological advancements, the slab yard is currently undergoing a significant capital project which aims to automate the remaining cranes, making it the first of its kind in Australia. As part of your role, you will have the unique opportunity to be directly involved in the commissioning of and ongoing maintenance of this cutting-edge technology.
In this critical role, you will use your technical background and experience to deliver key outcomes in maintaining and developing the Slab Yard equipment. You'll implement and improve our maintenance strategies to achieve optimum equipment performance and reduction in failures. Your contributions will ensure that this world-class asset delivers safe, efficient and reliable continuous operations.
**What Will You Do?**
Working in a supportive environment, you will contribute to the safety of our people, the quality of our product and the reliability of our equipment. You will:
- troubleshoot day-to-day problems, recommending robust solutions on electrical equipment including PLCs, drives and SCADA interfaces
- provide assessment and follow up of equipment issues impacting plant performance
- perform equipment inspections as well as detailed planning and condition monitoring and optimisation of equipment
- assess the priority of emergent work relative to planned work to ensure electrical trade resources are applied in the best interests of the business
- coach and mentor operators and tradespersons in equipment function and technology
**More About You**
Along with your sound technical background, you will bring:
- electrical trade qualifications
- NSW Electrical licence
- a commitment to your own safety, wellbeing, and care for others
- experience with manufacturing equipment and the ability to utilise electrical schematics to establish root cause
- experience working both independently and as part of a manufacturing team
- fault finding and problem-solving ability in a cross-discipline team environment
- experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
**Why BlueScope**
As we’re creating strength for the future through our people, products and solutions, BlueScope supports you to build your expertise within a safe and positive team environment. At BlueScope, you’ll:
