**IMMEDIATE START**

MUST HAVE:

- Valid Working with childrens check
- Criminal history check within the last 6-12 months
- NSW Drivers Licence
- access to own car with comprehensive car insurance

Support workers provide a range of services that encourage and support children and young people in Out Of Home Care as well as supporting parents and their children in their homes and community.

These services can include facilitating Family Time visits with families and significant others, providing supervised transports to appointments and other commitments, overnight support and mentoring opportunities as well as supporting parents in the home with implementing consistent routines or attending necessary appointments.

There are multiple casual opportunities available.

**Major Accountabilities**:

- Facilitate, support and supervise Family time visits between children and young people and their families.
- Report observations during Family time visits which are meaningful as it relates to the wellbeing, safety, or the best interests of the children.
- Transport children and young people to family time visits, alternative placement arrangements, daily appointments and other commitments.
- Assisting children and young people to develop their life skills relationships and social networks through mentoring and community engagement.
- Provide overnight support to children and young people in alternate care arrangements and crisis accommodation inclusive of meal preparation and other household duties
- Providing emotional support
- Engage and communicate with all stakeholders in a professional, sensitive and non-judgmental manner
- Adhere to all policies, procedures, and legislative requirements relevant to the role.
- Make a ‘Risk of significant harm’ report to the Community Services helpline when deemed necessary in consultation with management.
- Maintain accurate, up to date case notes, records and other documentation as required.
- Support families within their home and out in the community. In-home support with implementing routines, attending necessary appointments etc.
- Hold a Current Working with Children Check.
- Hold a Current and valid Driver’s Licence and access to a well-maintained vehicle which will be used for work purposes

**Knowledge, Skills and Experience**
- Tertiary qualifications such as Social Work, Psychology or Education is desirable but **NOT **essential
- Knowledge, understanding and experience in working with children and families with complex needs
- Demonstrated knowledge of child development and child protection issues
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
- Ability to meet flexible work hours inclusive of evenings and weekends
- Sound computer literacy skills

**Job Type**: Casual

**Salary**: $38.08 per hour

- Driver Licence (required)
