The Principal Strategic Advisor position sits within the Western Integrated Family Violence Committee (WIFVC). The WIFVC is a representative, whole-of-sector reference group comprising key stakeholders committed to reducing family violence in Melbourne’s west. The WIFVC is one of 13 regional committees across Victoria funded by the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH).

The role of the WIFVC is to provide regional leadership in service integration and planning, policy and advocacy to improve service responses to family violence in the west. Activities are designed to support the achievement of WIFVC priorities as set out in the WIFVC Strategic Plan. In the west, GenWest is contracted by DFFH to be the auspice organisation for funds and the employment of staff.

This fixed-term role oversees the entire WIFVC Team with direct reports including the three WIFVC Sessional Trainers, the Workforce Development Officer, and the Project Support Worker. The responsibilities of this role include:

- Lead system responsiveness within the ongoing family violence reform process at a regional level
- Coordinate the development and implementation of the WIFVC Action Plan in consultation with governance group, committee, and key stakeholders
- Drive the development and maintenance of the regional structures, processes, and relationships that underpin sector capacity development, support sound governance and WIFVC operations
- Ensure monitoring and review of all aspects of the program at a regional level through regular reporting and accountability arrangements at state-wide, regional and system levels.
- Adhere to organisational policies and procedures of the AUSPICE, including providing supervision and direction to a project support worker

**Key Selection Criteria**

1. Theoretical, analytical, policy and practice knowledge
- Experience in system analysis and advice in a sector relevant to WIFVC. Success in the role requires demonstrated capacity to work within and across different professional paradigms and service models to bring together organisations or sectors with different philosophies, service models and diverse perspectives towards a common goal. o Highly developed analytical and conceptual skills, including the ability to plan, implement and review complex issues and projects.
- Demonstrated understanding and working knowledge of government policies as they relate to integrated family violence services, and an aptitude for influencing public policy debates and initiatives. o Highly developed report and submission writing skills coupled with the ability to provide clear and succinct presentations.
- Experience in facilitating small groups and presenting to diverse audiences

2. Relationship and stakeholder management
- Exceptional skills in stakeholder management, including the ability to develop effective and collaborative working relationships, and liaise and negotiate with funding bodies, government, sector and community organisations/individuals.
- Existing relationships with relevant networks in the western metropolitan region viewed favourably.
- Cultural and cross-sectoral competence is essential.

3. Personal Attributes
- Ethics, integrity and excellent interpersonal and high-level communication skills that support the capacity to lead, inspire and develop staff, and promote and represent WIFVC.
- Demonstrated commitment to the provision of high quality services, feminist policy and practice, and a culture of respect, collaboration and continuous learning.

4. Qualifications and tertiary skills
- Relevant tertiary qualifications essential, with relevant post-graduate qualifications highly regarded.
- At least three years’ experience in project management in an area relevant to WIFVC, including the development and monitoring of budgets.
- Demonstrated experience in supervising staff to enable successful achievement of program goals and tasks.
