**About the Role**:
This is a permanent full time position within the Rehabilitation Department

Classification for this position will range from specialist year 1 - specialist year 9

The Consultant in Paediatric Rehabilitation provides clinical care to children and adolescents requiring rehabilitation after brain injury, major medical illness, acquired spinal dysfunction, or elective musculoskeletal procedures. The Consultant works within an interdisciplinary team with other professionals to provide co-ordinated care in both inpatient and ambulatory settings.

**What you’ll achieve**:

- Ensure timely provision of rehabilitation services through direct management of patients receiving inpatient and ambulatory rehabilitation, in conjunction with the relevant junior staff.
- Develop and implement individualised rehabilitation plans for patients together with their families and the interdisciplinary rehabilitation team
- Be a source of clinical expertise, advocacy and guidance across the Victorian Paediatric Rehabilitation Team
- Participate in consultation-liaison service to other units within the hospital
- Liaise with other rehabilitation team members at weekly clinical meetings/case conferences regarding inpatient and ambulatory patient management plans and progress

**Your skills and experience**:

- Demonstrated capacity to work harmoniously and collaboratively within a team
- Excellent communication skills
- Bachelor of Medicine or equivalent
- FRACP or international equivalent
- Specialist Medical Registration with APHRA and Medical Board of Australia
- Membership of Australasian Faculty of Rehabilitative Medicine (FAFRM) and experience in paediatric rehabilitation

**About the Department**:
The role sits within the Victorian Paediatric Rehabilitation Service (VPRS) which is a state
- wide specialist service which caters for the complex rehabilitation needs of children and adolescents after major injury, medical illness, and congenital conditions who undergo interventions aimed at functional maximisation. VPRS has 8 sites across the state of Victoria. The VPRS at The Royal Children’s Hospital has rehabilitation beds located in the main hospital, and a large community based service.
