**The Role**:
An interesting opportunity exists for an Interventional Radiologist to join the Northern Imaging Victoria team at Northern Health from October 2023. Northern Imaging Victoria is the newest public medical imaging department in Victoria, due to go live in October 2023. We will provide a comprehensive and integrated service consisting of Diagnostic Radiology, Interventional Radiology and Nuclear Medicine/PET.
Our services are delivered across multiple Northern Health sites, with a focus on acute and emergency imaging and intervention at the Northern Hospital Epping which serves the busiest Emergency Department in Victoria. Outpatient services will be based at our new Broadmeadows Hospital imaging department with future expansion of services coming online at Craigieburn and Whittlesea Hospitals in 2024. Additional expansion at our Epping campus will also see the development of a new Emergency Department, inpatient tower and satellite Imaging department co-located with ED. Our department is equipped with the latest medical imaging equipment and a best of breed RIS-PACS system. We are a friendly, supportive and progressive department with a strong focus on pursuing clinical and academic excellence.
Interventional Radiology is based out of the Northern Hospital in Epping and is staffed by a team of fellowship trained Interventional Radiologists, IR nurses and radiographers with outpatient clinics and a 24/7 on-call service. We also regularly contribute to Diagnostic Radiology reporting and multidisciplinary meetings. We have two angiography suites and will be installing a new state-of-the art Philips Azurion FlexArm angiography system (with CBCT, image fusion, embolisation and needle guidance). We have access to two CT systems for interventional procedures as well as three dedicated ultrasound systems for procedures.
As an Interventional Radiologist with Northern Imaging Victoria, you will be part of a team delivering safe, high quality and efficient imaging and interventional services to referrers and patients of Northern Health as well as external referrers.
**To be successful in this role you will have**:
- Primary medical qualification (MBBS, MB BCh, MD or equivalent) registrable with AHPRA.
- Registration as a specialist Radiologist in Australia with AHPRA or have the ability to be registered with AHPRA with currency of practice and CPD participation.
- Ability to gain a Medicare provider number.
- Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (FRANZCR) in Clinical Radiology.
- Completion of a 12 month (minimum) period of fellowship training in Interventional Radiology with demonstrable skills, knowledge and experience as outlined in the RANZCR Standards of Practice for Interventional Radiology and/or CIRSE EBIR curriculum.
- Broad knowledge in all aspects of Radiology for safe and independent consultant practice including plain film radiography, CT, MRI, US, fluoroscopy and core procedural skills.
- Expert knowledge and experience in Interventional Radiology including vascular (arterial and venous angiography, angioplasty, thrombectomy, embolisation, vascular access, lymphangiography), non-vascular (hepatobiliary, renal and genitourinary), oncology and emergency (including on-call) IR practice.
- Demonstrated commitment to excellence in medical imaging service delivery.
- Demonstrated commitment to continued improvement and team work.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills that enable the development of professional relationships across a broad range of people.
- Commitment to excellence in medical imaging, research and medical education including training of junior staff.
Applicants would be preferred if they hold an advanced IR qualification such as the European Board of Interventional Radiology (EBIR) diploma or equivalent. Applicants without this qualification may make a commitment to obtain the EBIR or equivalent within the first two years of appointment.
