Position Overview

As a 2025 Research Engineering Intern you will gain real world experience working as part of a specialized team working on the numerical modelling of the injection moulding of plastics. The Autodesk Moldflow product is a world leading injection moulding simulation tool used by plastic part designers and mould engineers around the world working with different industries including automotive, medical, and high-value consumer products.

As a Research Engineering Intern working on software development at Autodesk, you will collaborate with post-doctoral researchers to design and implement Artificial Intelligence Surrogate models targeted at the simulation of plastic injection moulding. Physics based surrogate models have the potential to shorten the time required for our customers to gain simulation insights into their part and mould designs before manufacturing the mould tool.

Responsibilities- Design and implement testable, readable and production quality code- Evaluate surrogate model methods for speed, accuracy and model training requirements.- Participate in team meetings and practice Agile code development mindset throughout the software development lifecycle

Minimum Qualifications- Enrolled as a full-time student pursuing a Ph.D./ Doctorate program in Engineering, Science, Math or similar post
- graduate program at an accredited University in Australia- You would be close to the completion of your Ph.D. and looking to gain professional experience to start a career in numerical software development and research- Completed course work or projects using C++ programming or a similar programming language-
- Programming experience in a Windows, Mac OS, or Linux environment-
- Ability to work in team environment as a team player- Excellent verbal and written skills- Internship period: January - December 2025 [12 months]
