**Why Your Role Matters**:
Applicants are expected to have a PhD in Cultural/Human Geography or a closely related field, a demonstrated record of high-quality research that supplements and extends the interests of the cultural geography group, and the ability and willingness to contribute to the teaching program at all levels. Previous university teaching experience is also strongly desired, especially in relation to areas like Social Geography, Nature/Society, Geopolitics, and Cultural Geography. The position will also be expected to contribute to the effective functioning of the School by undertaking a range of other administrative duties. A knowledge and understanding of equity and diversity and OH&S procedures and practices is essential.
**Responsibilities**:
- The successful appointee will be expected to teach into the Geography undergraduate major program, as well as teach into existing/develop new postgraduate taught courses as appropriate.
- Engage in individual and/or collaborative research of an internationally recognised standard in an area of human/cultural geography relevant to the research strengths of the School.
- Create scholarly impact which is recognised by international peers in the advancement of human/cultural geography or related disciplines.
- Mentor and guide students and colleagues and develop the next generation of academics through the supervision of Honours and HDR students.
- Demonstrate and continuously develop a well-defined teaching philosophy that inspires student learning.
- Conduct classes, assess student learning achievements, and support students in postgraduate and undergraduate courses in line with UNSW policy.
- Design and develop learning activities and resources, and provide assessment and feedback using a range of suitable approaches and learning environments.
**Who You Are**:
You will have the following skills and experience:
- A PhD in Human/Cultural Geography or a related discipline.
- An emerging track record in research with outcomes of high quality and high impact with clear evidence of the desire and ability to continually achieve research excellence as well as the capacity for research leadership.
- An aptitude for teaching and learning design, development and delivery at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
- Ability to use educational technology platforms and online delivery methods to deliver courses.
- Strong teaching capability and a passion for educational excellence
- Ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and support student equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives.
- High level communication skills and ability to network effectively and interact with a diverse range of students and staff.
- Evidence of the capacity for highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills.
- An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
- Knowledge of health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
