About the Role

Team Global Express (TGE) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Procurement Manager to join our Corporate Procurement & Finance team. In this position you will assume responsibility for providing expertise and advise for the group in relation to the selection and contracting of sub-contractors, which in turn will help to ensure TGE manage its sub-contractors’ decisions to extract maximum value. This must be done in line with ensuring the focus areas and activities of the business unit are holistically carried out in line with TGE strategy. Furthermore, the values and strategy must be enabled through ensuring a unified culture of safety, people, customer focus and operational excellence. This must be done in accordance with Company, Procurement Policies and procedures and support the strategic and operational objectives of the broader procurement services team.

Primary Accountabilities:

- You will be viewed as the Sub Contractor Commercial SME for the Group and be responsible for driving the ongoing standardisation, innovation, and management of sub-contractors’ contracts across the group.
- You will have the opportunity to own and manage the sub-contractor commercial and standardisation of the onboarding process and policy on behalf of the group, drive the ongoing optimisation and competitive evaluation of the sub-contractors to enable best utilisation of sub-contractors.
- Analyse competitive costs and, challenge where appropriate and help to drive decision making through providing clear analysis of alternatives.
- Engage / escalate to Category Sponsor any decisions being requested by the business that are not generating the best outcome for the group.
- Manage the Sub contractor commercials and on behalf of TGE and establish/maintain preferred sub-contractors to maximise benefit for the group.
- Drive the sub-contractors to meet agreed SLAs and engage with BU / lead for corrective actions where SLAs are not met.
- Develop and track the annual budget, savings, and category management plan.
- Ensure any sourcing activity performed follows TGE processes and delivers a transparent and effective sourcing process.

Primary skills and responsibilities:

- Selecting carriers per business requirements, negotiating contracts and rates.
- Where necessary develop, run, and manage transparent sourcing exercises for sub-contractor / rail categories, negotiate and execute agreements with suppliers and effectively implement contracts.
- Generate reporting to help the group understand compliance with agreed contracts and identify opportunities and actions for improvement.
- Be actively involved in the sub-contractor engagement network and operate as a conduit between the business and sub-contractors to help drive adoption of safety initiatives by TGE.
- Coordinate the engagement of Sub Contractor Managers across TGE and drive the ongoing improvement.
- Generate monthly reporting to identify value generated from the activity undertaken each month.
- Promote relationships to enhance communication, information exchange and understanding both internally with Sub Contractor Managers and sub-contractors.
- Work with the Business Units to identify and introduce new products, process and innovation to enhance productivity and profitability.
- Manage the administration requirements related to all sub-contractor commercial agreements.
- Ensure all sourcing activity and projects undertaken is delivered on time and drive delivery of agreed savings/value targets.
- Seek opportunities to consolidate spend with preferred contracted sub-contractors to drive improved Group compliance, leverage contracts, and maximise scale.

Qualifications and Experience
- Undergraduate tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline preferred (e.g., Supply chain / Engineering)
- Professional membership of relevant associations (e.g., CIPS) not required but preferred.
- Minimum 7+ years’ experience in a similar role.
- Outstanding category management expertise in sub-contractor and rail contract management.
- Ability to document and present options and recommendations to support sub-contractor decisions.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to train and mentor other TGE personnel e.g., BU Sub contractor managers / teams on how to effectively contract and manage sub-contractors.
- Strong analytical skills and preparation of meaningful reports based on data.
