**About the role**:
We’re seeking a qualified and passionate **Production Manager** who will be responsible for leading, developing and implementing strategies for the efficient production of the compounds suite of products within Knauf’s operating procedures. Ensuring high levels of safety and compliance whilst achieving and maintaining cost effective production, consistent with the quality standards of the Knauf business.
This is a people focused leadership role overseeing the daily production of the Compounds and Mill plants within a Plasterboard Manufacturing environment.

Essential to this is the maintaining of a productive team environment where high morale contributes to employee and customer satisfaction. Establishing and maintaining a state of the art manufacturing facility. Ensuring increased productivity and a reduction in costs whilst delivering a quality product is key to success in the position. This role is based in **Port Melbourne, VIC** and will report directly to the Plant Manager

**Key Responsibilities**
- Lead the day-to-day operation of two production plants (Compounds & Mill) within the overall Plasterboard Manufacturing plant
- Identify industry best practice for operations and implement approved strategies for the optimum achievement of the business’s objectives, safety, excellence, innovation, integrity and collaboration
- Maximise the production effectiveness by ensuring the development of systems and processes regarding best practice in production, training, communication and overall shift performance
- Maintain and foster a high level of engagement within a safety focused culture, ensuring high levels of compliance to Knauf’s standards and legislative system requirements
- Bring a continuous improvement mindset to the day-to-day operation of the plants, delivering cost effective outcomes within the production environment
- Actively promote a workplace culture aimed at proactively managing existing and potential health and safety hazards and environmental aspects and impacts
- Ensure a consistent and strong leadership approach is maintained across all shifts
- Ensure that the skills and workplace performance of relevant employees is satisfactory but looking to drive a high-performance culture
- Develop and maintain high-quality employee relations through adopting effective practices to improve communication within the workplace which creates an environment that encourages employee involvement towards a business improvement culture at all levels, ensuring that the business is a market leader within the industry
- Ensure that a leading role is taken in relation to both plant modifications and cultural improvements across the site
- The ability to clearly communicate and articulate a vision or strategy at all levels
- Other duties that may arise from time to time will be required to be actioned in an appropriate and timely manner

**Minimum Requirements**:

- Demonstrated experience in a leadership role
- Understanding of critical relevant plant and equipment, including new technology robotics
- Strong leadership skills and abilities
- Strong people and communication skills
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise competing deadlines
- Proficient Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills, and/or SAP
- Understanding of current practice manufacturing training and standards
- Understanding of Lean principles with a continuous improvement mindset
- Ability to influence positive outcomes for both the Company and Employees
- Strong and practical understanding of Victoria’s OH&S Laws is highly desirable
- Relevant experience in a similar role within a unionised environment desirable
