**The Role**

The Governance Officer will be accountable for achieving work outcomes independently yet will undertake considerable stakeholder engagement and liaison to coordinate governance activity. They will be required to identify, anticipate, and respond to stakeholders’ needs and expectations.

The Governance Officer needs to be capable of setting team priorities and building team capability through coaching, feedback and developing the quality of work undertaken by others. They will also actively pursue ongoing self-improvement and professional development.

**About our Team**
The Directorate of Group Governance manages a range of governance functions for Joint Operations Command (JOC) including assurance, compliance, performance, risk and security. It also manages and coordinates JOC Group responses and plans relating to both the Defence Transformation and Culture strategies.

The team sits within the Corporate Services Branch in Headquarters Joint Operations Command (HQJOC) and consists of an APS workforce that works with and alongside military personnel within a tri-service environment. Products and policies produced by the Directorate integrate with the Defence enterprise and are used within the group to inform policy across relevant branch activities.

You will understand the importance of performance reporting and be interested in working with the group and broader enterprise to develop performance measures. You will also have exceptional networking and stakeholder engagement skills including the ability to influence others and coordinate responses from multiple areas.
- Excellent written and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong understanding of Commonwealth legislative and Defence compliance requirements, or the ability to quickly acquire this.
- Ability to assess and contribute to the development of governance frameworks, such as assurance, compliance, performance reporting, and/or risk management.
- Ability to monitor, document, and implement policies and procedures.
- Ability to plan for and deliver continuous improvement. You must be able to obtain and maintain an NV2 Security Clearance.
