An exciting opportunity exists to join the Office of the Victorian Information Commissioner (OVIC) as a Policy Officer. Working across information privacy, information access, and information sharing the Policy Officer is an integral member of OVIC’s Policy team.

OVIC is an independent integrity agency with oversight of freedom of information, privacy, and information security for the Victorian public sector. We protect information privacy rights, oversee access to information, advise on lawful information sharing, and promote effective information security.

The Policy Officer works collaboratively within the Policy team to promote privacy best practice under the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 and shape the Victorian public sector's approach to information access under the Freedom of Information Act 1982.

You will have a strong interest in privacy, government transparency, and information sharing, and a desire to influence how government manages public sector information.

Your day to day work will involve developing resources, reviewing government policy and legislation, preparing submissions to consultations, managing the Victorian Privacy Network, and assisting with stakeholder engagement activities.
