About the role

We are currently seeking a values-driven and proactive Cafe Manager, reporting to the Morley Corps Officers. The Cafe Manager is instrumental in the effective operation of the Milk & Honey Café, focusing on the preparation/delivery of high-quality food, and the provision of excellent customer service, a cohesive and friendly team environment, whilst minimising costs and responsible for staff supervision, meeting all regulatory requirements and operating the café within budget.

You will successfully
- Manage the preparation, presentation and sale of meals/food, with the support of a small volunteer team
- Manage the preparation, presentation and sale of Coffee/Tea, ensuring consistent, high quality barista coffee is being served in a timely manner
- Oversight and line-manage a part-time barista employee
- Support the recruitment of a small team of volunteers to support the work in the café
- Oversight and line-manage a small team of volunteers to support the work of the café, and delegating responsibilities as appropriate
- Manage volunteer staff requirements, ensuring the café has enough capably people on duty to fulfil all the requirements of the café for each day
- Ensure the food served is fresh, presented in an attractive manner and meets food quality standards
- Ensure all meals are prepared with minimum wastage; developing menu plans to maximise profit
- Ensure the cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen and dining areas ensuring food is handled, prepared and stored in line with Australian Food Safety Standards, TSA policies and procedures and government regulations
- Maintain appropriate stock levels, taking deliveries and storage of supplies and food products in line with budget restraints and TSA policy and procedures
- Develop and implement strategies for ongoing service improvement; service gaps are identified and recommendations for service delivery improvements are made

This is a permanent full time position, located in Morley, WA. The hours typically are 7am - 3pm, Monday to Friday. Salary and conditions in accordance with the Hospitality Industry Award (General) 2020, Level 6

You will have
- Relevant qualifications and/or experience in food preparation and cooking in a commercial environment
- Minimum three years previous food service experience
- WHS - knowledge of work health safety obligations and to practice these in the workplace in line with TSA policy & procedures and legislation
- Food Safety Certificate
- Demonstrated experience of managing employees and volunteers
- Professional development required to maintain skills for the role
- Valid WWCC
- A national police record check is required
- A commitment to ongoing training as requested by the Corps Officer
