**About the opportunity**:
An exciting opportunity to join the Clinical Genetics Service team, located at Nepean Hospital, as a Genetics Counsellor on a permanent full time basis.

The Clinical Genetics Unit at Nepean Hospital provides high quality clinical genetics services across Nepean/Blue Mountains LHD. The purpose of this position is to lead the ongoing development of clinical genetic counselling services in adult, paediatric and prenatal services across NBMLHD and outreach services as required, in addition to those services already provided by the existing clinical genetics unit.
The position will provide an advanced level of clinical skills and high-quality genetic counselling services for prenatal, paediatric and adult referrals. The position will also enhance genetic counselling services, standards and patient safety and quality across the clinical genetics service in NBMLHD.

An eligibility list may be created for future permanent full or part time and temporary full or part time vacancies.

**Selection criteria to be addressed**:

- Qualifications in accordance with Schedule C of the NSW Health Service Professionals (State) Award with a Bachelor's Degree in a non-nursing, non-medical discipline, current HGSA membership and HGSA Board Eligible with a minimum of Part 1 in Genetic Counselling certification; attainment of Part 2 certification or commencement of part 2 certification preferable
- Extensive postgraduate genetic counselling experience across a broad range of genetic conditions with evidence of an advanced level of clinical skills, including the ability to provide high level advice, consultation, and education to enhance service delivery and to support others in providing service excellence.
- Demonstrated experience in the provision of clinical supervision, mentoring and development of clinicians and students.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills including negotiation, decision making, advocacy skills, and conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstrated high level organisational, prioritisation and time management skills, to achieve outcomes and effectively manage a complex caseload in a high workload environment with competing clinical/administrative demands.
- Demonstrated experience and ability to identify opportunities and innovatively lead the planning, implementation and evaluation of service delivery incorporating continuous improvement, evidence-based practice and research.
