About the Role
Based at St Vincent’s Hospital, this role offers the exciting opportunity to work with a progressive and cohesive research team to improve care for people with advanced illness. You will be working within a multidisciplinary team of highly committed researchers and embedded in clinical services to develop systems to improve care for people affected by advanced illness and their families.
- Support the conduct of an important research project involving the building and evaluation of a model of First Nations Cancer Care Coordination to improve cancer care for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community
- The project involves
- Direct engagement with the community, with clinicians, with researchers and with health service system providers.
- Undertaking collection and management of both patient/person-based and health service research data across all stages of the projects
- Organising and participating in research-related activities such as interviews and focus groups, workshops, research meetings with study teams, and dissemination and community events.
Classifications for this position will range from XN9 - XN11 ($76,658 - $82,955 per annum pro rata) or equivalent for those staff with relevant qualifications.
Your Contribution
You will be an experienced research assistant with a background in the health sector. You will have experience working with clients or community members who may be experiencing high levels of distress. Your highly developed interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills will allow you to liaise and work effectively with both professional and community audiences.
- Tertiary research qualification in psychology, social science, public health, or a related healthcare discipline (or equivalent substantive research experience).
- Expertise in one or more of the following research areas: palliative care, cancer, health services research, or community engagement.
- A demonstrated experience in research assistance/ project management.
- High-level problem-solving and time management skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate and work with, and manage teams.
- Current National Criminal History Check or willing to obtain
