**Division Responsibilities**

The Primary Care Division leads and delivers policy and programs to support equitable

access to quality, coordinated and culturally appropriate primary health care services at the

centre of the health system that improve the health and wellbeing of all Australians across

the life course. We provide a high level of support to our Ministers through the provision of

timely advice and parliamentary briefings.

The Primary Care Division continues to build capability through the development of

effective systems and processes to efficiently delivery and manage projects, programs, and

grants to achieve delivery of the Government's primary care reform agenda. We strive to

**Branch Responsibilities**

The Primary Care Reform Branch has overarching policy leadership and responsibility for

delivering on the Government’s Strengthening Medicare reform agenda, and for leading the

policy design and implementation of significant primary care reform measures. Branch

responsibilities include developing and implementing policy and funding options in response

to the recommendations of the Strengthening Medicare Taskforce, leading the development

of MyMedicare, policy oversight and program management of the Practice Incentives

Program, and leadership of data functions for the Primary Care Division.

partnership with external stakeholders, across the department, with other agencies, and

with state and territory governments to achieve outcomes.

**Section Responsibilities**

The Practice Support Section has responsibility for a range of functions which build the

capacity of general practice and encourage ongoing improvements, through accreditation

and the Practice Incentives Program (PIP), which encourages general practices to continue

providing quality care, enhance capacity, and improve access and health outcomes for

patients.

**Key Responsibilities**

The role may include activities such as:

- Drive stakeholder engagement and contract management for the PIP by building

relationships with internal and external stakeholders including Policy teams in the

Department, Services Australia, the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare

(AIHW) and Australian Commission on Safety and Quality Health Care (ACSQHC)***
- Take the lead in maintaining PIP policy guideline documentation, and PIP policy

framework document, drive interaction with the section to support shared

understanding of the incentives, the program logic and history
- Prepare briefing materials including senate estimates briefings, question time briefs,

and responses to correspondence and requests for input
- Provide advice and technical expertise in specific areas of the practice incentives

program, including the operation of accreditation schemes
- Develop program documents, including, but not limited to complex correspondence,

responses to external and internal enquiries relating to the program '¢ Assist in the

review of decision (ROD) and policy determination processes in partnership with

Services Australia and the Workforce Incentives team in Health Workforce Division,

including drafting determinations.
