**About the Role**

The Materials Assurance Lead undertakes audit and surveillance of the manufacture and testing of road-making materials and reports on trends. The role coordinates planning, scheduling, and resource allocation of its surveillance audits. The position checks for compliance against requirements, assesses quality and constructability of road and bridge works, and identifies issues.

It also develops responses to complex problems in material technical matters, and supports the delivery of DTP materials assurance schemes (e.g. Register of Testing Companies, Mix Design Registrations). The Materials Assurance Lead contributes to the technical capability development of staff, and the development of technical documents, procedures, and processes.

**Position Outcomes / Accountabilities**
- **Technical Expertise** Applied well developed specialist skills to identify and address issues, provide specialist advice, and contribute to the development of technical documentation, procedures and processes related to the technical discipline and functions of the team.
- **Audit and Surveillance - **Effectively planned, managed and co-ordinated the development and delivery of the Audit and Surveillance Plan and Industry Registration Schemes (Register of Testing Companies) in collaboration with key stakeholders.
- **Accreditation Schemes -** Supported the delivery and integrity of Source Rock Accreditation and Mix Design Registration schemes through specialist technical support, and performance of assurance activities.
- **Capability Development** - Contributed to training and development of staff to uplift technical capability within the team and broader groups.

**Key Selection Criteria**

The DTP is seeking a professional who excels at critical thinking and problem-solving, delivering effective solutions that drive tangible business outcomes. They will lead strategic projects, ensuring success through clear governance, risk management, and stakeholder engagement, while influencing key decisions and building support for ideas. Additionally, they will develop team capabilities through coaching and feedback, all while maintaining a strong focus on meeting customer needs and managing service delivery risks effectively.

**Qualifications and Experience**

**Mandatory**
- Appropriate technical qualifications and/or relevant industry experience.

**Desirable**

***Experience in any of the following disciplines:

- Civil construction materials testing
- Concrete technology or production
- Asphalt technology or production
- Pavement Materials (e.g. quarry, crushed rock and soils)
- Quality management / auditing / assurance
