The Leukaemia Biology Group at Children’s Cancer Institute undertakes highly translational research focused on the development of novel therapeutics for the treatment of high-risk and drug-resistant acute leukaemia in children and adults. This position will contribute to a cutting-edge project involving the evaluation of novel therapeutic compounds in patient-derived xenograft (PDX) models of acute myeloid leukaemia.
**As a Research Assistant in our Leukaemia Biology Group your purpose will be to**:
- Carry out preclinical drug testing using patient derived xenograft (PDX) models of leukaemia.
- Perform routine laboratory assays, such as flow cytometry and cell culture.
- Conduct research as a member of a team and are supervised by a Senior Research Officer and the Group Head.
- Assist with planning and coordination of research efforts.
- Contribute to high quality publications.
**To succeed you will have**
- An undergraduate degree with Honours or equivalent degree in related area.
- A track record of biomedical research experience.
- Solid knowledge and experience working within a laboratory environment.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and conduct experiments.
- Ability to interpret and communicate results to the supervisor and research group.
- Ability to work independently and/or as a member of a team.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
