**Community Development Officer**
- Permanent Full Time Position
- Work Life Balance - we offer a hybrid working model with flexible working arrangements
- Band 6 - $91, 260.43 per annum plus superannuation

**About the role**

This position works within the Community Partnerships Unit as part of the Community Development Team. The Community Development Team are committed to working collaboratively with communities and volunteers across the Mornington Peninsula, raising awareness and utilisation of community development approaches across the Shire to facilitate improvements in our communities and their resilience.

The Shire has 44 townships, over 20,000 volunteers and awards just over $4.1 Million (as of 2023) in Community Investment Funding per annum.

Key responsibilities include:

- Undertake research in population census, asset mapping, services and programs, community groups/organisations, relevant Shire Policies and information unique to place-based areas for the development of Local Area Community Profiles.
- Establish community partnerships in local areas to strengthen community leadership engaged in local area planning.
- Undertake community engagement and consultation with the community to identify needs and priorities to inform collaborative working relationships place-based with our communities.
- Support local area community planning processes identifying opportunities for funding for community projects/programs and initiatives.
- Identify and participate in the preparation of funding submissions, external to the Shire to recognise and support opportunities that strengthen our local townships through supporting local area priorities.
- Contribute to key objectives in the Council & Wellbeing Plan, key masterplans, plans and strategies as well as the Community Vision 2040.
- Participate in the Shire’s Community Investment Funding processes, as required.
- Support the team to build the capacity of the volunteer sector, as required.

**Skills, experience, and other requirements**
- Tertiary qualifications and/or extensive experience in community development, community renewal, social sciences, education or related field
- Substantial experience in community engagement and consultation.
- Skills in managing time, setting priorities, planning and organising workload.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective and collaborative community partnerships.
- Ability to engage and motivate the community to be involved.
