**Our Organisation**:
At Melbourne Water we love water and love life. What we do makes a vital contribution to Melbourne’s famous lifestyle. At Melbourne Water we are in the ‘Decade that Matters’ and we’ve got some ambitious goals to achieve. It’s a pride we share in helping to make greater Melbourne a fantastic place to live.
**The Role**:
Reporting to the DSS Construction Assessment & Delivery Senior Manager this management role is accountable for managing the delivery of all assets within the Development Services Schemes (DSS) in the North of Melbourne.
This position has overarching deliverables and includes resolving complex issues relating to Melbourne Water’s designs of new main drainage infrastructure which includes pipelines, waterways, wetlands and retarding basins.
Melbourne Water achieves such project delivery through partnerships with contracted Developers who execute the design component. This role:
- Assesses tenders from Developers
- Ensures Developers comply with asset standards
- Ensures assets are ready and fit for purpose

This role requires maintaining one’s focus and emotional intelligence. We are in the delivery phase stage where attention to detail is required to ensure the new communities are flood resistant and surrounding environmental values are protected. We are working in a dynamic environment where designs and ideas will be tested and challenged.
Therefore, you have the energy, academic rigour and agility to solve problems and be part of the ongoing conversations with stakeholders as we all journey towards achieving the targets of the DSS Programs.
**About YOU**:
This role will lead and coordinate robust stakeholder engagement and communications, which includes communicating complex engineering matters to both technical and non-technical audiences. It goes without saying YOU have a reliable collection and ‘bank’ of experiences to draw from to ensure stakeholders are satisfied with the quantity and quality of information provided.
YOU will have significant experience in people management (or have had a senior role in a team and have mentoring skills) and leading teams to successfully achieve targets for complex projects and programs.
YOU have a solid reputation for and demonstrated ground of respectfully and successfully partnering with key stakeholders including consultants, environmental scientists, local councils, the Department of Transport and Planning, the Victorian Planning Authority, developers, landowners, traditional owner groups, and community members.
YOU have maturity, judgement, resilience and negotiation skills which will be utilised as you navigate complex decision making, conversations, expectations and the general demands and priorities of the role. You have a work style that naturally lends itself to contributing to an inclusive workplace culture that is collaborative, professional and engaged.
This role requires a Tertiary degree in Engineering or a related discipline. Engineering Registration is required for this role. If you do not have Engineering registration, you must be eligible and willing to achieve this as early as possible in the course of your employment at Melbourne Water.
