**About the role**

In this role you will lead a geographically dispersed team to deliver the activities and meet operational requirements with regard to Leasing, Acquisitions and asset planning, reporting directly to the Director of Leasing and Acquisitions.

You will provide the oversight and leadership to drive improvements and will be accountable for managing the requirements and Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) as per the contractual agreements with Defence.

**More specifically, day to day you will**:

- Maintain a strong knowledge of all aspects of the real estate market and legislation, evaluate factors including risk, commercial return, maintenance liability and strategic portfolio plan.
- Provide direction to employees and develop their capabilities to optimise team performance and productivity.
- Create a framework to develop consistent and accurate operating procedures, policies and associated systems supporting the delivery of services aligned to contractual obligations with Defence.
- Strategically plan and lead projects to support a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring the achievement of business outcomes.
- Lead engagement with high level clients and stakeholders. Respond to escalated and complex client and stakeholder concerns with professionalism and sensitivity while representing DHA’s interests.
- Prepare executive reports and briefs for DHA’s Senior Management, Board and the Department of Defence

- A proven ability to lead and motivate a diverse, cross functional and geographically dispersed team to achieve outcomes, influence processes and build capability.
- Highly developed ability to evaluate risk, negotiate and influence outcomes in an environment characterised by contentious and high profile issues.
- Exceptional engagement skills, including the ability to initiate, establish and maintain solid relationships with a broad range of stakeholders, in particular, through change initiatives, with a proven ability in resolving conflict and managing sensitivities.
- Strong Knowledge base and understanding of the residential property industry, property leasing contracts, market trends and real estate.
- Sound understanding of the financial aspects relating to property sales, rental amounts, forecasts and budgeting.
- Proven experience using a range of database and workflow management systems and experience using the Microsoft Office Suite (preferably including the use of Microsoft Project).

This is a full-time position. DHA’s core business hours are between 8.30am and 5.00pm Monday to Friday. DHA operates under flexible working hours and staff may be required to work outside core business hours at times.
