Key responsibilities of this role
- Undertake research into complex Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander policy and program issues identified and how these impact on outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders across the social and economic policy environment.
- Undertake project planning, monitoring and reporting in accordance with departmental standards and system requirements.
- Prepare high-level and timely strategic advice, submissions and briefing papers in collaboration with relevant internal and external partners.
- Develop papers on complex policy issues for Government consideration, including Cabinet and CBRC submissions, Cabinet and Parliament processes and Legislation.
- Support the implementation of government's policies, programs, projects and initiatives to contribute to the achievement of the vision and objectives of the department.
- Identify, manage and report risks relating to their work with the department.
- Assist in effective liaison, negotiation and consultation across government and non-government sectors including peak Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations, key stakeholders and other interest groups, including young people.
- Prepare, support and respond to consultation processes undertaken with relevant stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain a network of people involved in the development, management and monitoring of Government policy through building a wide range of nternal and external high expectation relationships across Government and community.
- Contribute to an accountable, fair and safe work environment through the implementation of management practices, policies and procedures, including workplace health and safety, equal employment opportunities/anti-discrimination and operational management.
