**About - Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning**

The Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning is the leading educational and research institution in the Asia-Pacific region addressing the design and realisation of environments. It actively seeks to extend the linkages between education, research, and practice in the built environment, and maintains excellent and extensive relationships with members of the built environment professions, government, professional associations and the wider community.

The Faculty has over 200 staff and 3000 students, one third of whom are international. It is responsible for the undergraduate Bachelor of Design degree, and offers majors in architecture, landscape architecture, property, construction, and urban planning.

The Faculty’s graduate school, the Melbourne School of Design (MSD), teaches accredited masters courses across the professional disciplines of Architecture, Construction Management, Landscape Architecture, Property, Urban Design and Urban Planning.

**About the Role**
The LEaRN Research Translation & Impact Coordinator will assist the Building Connections ARC Project Chief Investigators (CI’s) to:

- Develop relationships with potential research and implementation partners across the education, service delivery, and philanthropic sectors.
- Identify opportunities to fund new research and implementation initiatives.

The role requires an organised, self-directed, creative individual with experience in identifying and fostering stakeholder relationships and communicating opportunities to effectively translate research into tangible actions and positive impacts to the education, service delivery, and philanthropic sectors.
- The successful applicant will work closely with the Building Connections CIs and Project Manager, plus Advancement and Business Development personnel in ABP and MGSE. _

The position will be administratively based within the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning (ABP), reporting to the Co-Director of LEaRN, Associate Professor Ben Cleveland, with support from the Building Connections Project Manager Sarah Backhouse.

The position will involve the following:

- Understanding the Building Connections research agenda and outputs.
- Collaborating with the project’s CI’s, Project Manager, plus Advancement and Business Development personnel in ABP and MGSE, to develop a research translation and impact strategy.
- Supporting the CI’s and Project Manager to implement the research translation and impact strategy through engagement with additional stakeholders, potential collaborators, and funders. This support should be realised through:

- Identifying research translation and impact opportunities.
- Engaging with potential collaborators and granting bodies to explore funding opportunities.
- Brokering productive relationships and partnerships that will support the development of schools as community hubs into the future.
- Coordinating engagement and outreach activities and events in collaboration with ABP and MGSE engagement and partnerships staff and research office personnel.

Responsibilities include:

- Demonstrated ability to communicate and engage effectively with academic and professional staff within the University and externally with stakeholders and the philanthropic sector.
- Highly developed interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong written communication skills across a range of media, social media, and academic frameworks, for varied audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and engage with a range of stakeholders and potential partners, towards brokering long term relationships and partnerships.
- Relevant computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and file / database creation and management.
