**Job Summary**:
Powerlink Queensland, Queensland’s high voltage transmission network provider, currently has career opportunities for experienced Transmission Line Layout Design Drafters to support the design of allocated Transmission Line engineering projects.

If you possess the skills and experience in Layout Design Drafting, in the areas of transmission line design, and are looking for a career path to a Layout Designer this role will provide:

- Design support to the Layout Designers and the design drafting activities associated with transmission lines and underground cables
- Practical and high quality drawings and design documentation that comply with appropriate technical principles, standards and construction practices
- AutoCAD drafting and supplementary support services to Line Layout Design team activities

**About the role**:
The role includes the preparation of Layout Design supporting documentation using AutoCAD drafting software, deriving data from PLS Cadd line design models and engineering surveys and interfacing across the Primary Electrical and Civil/Structural Drafting teams.

In this important design role you will ensure that the specific design objectives are achieved including design drawings and documentation. This involves all aspects of layout design drafting for transmission lines and underground cables.

Critical to your success will be your ability to collaborate with other design functions to optimize layout design solutions and to operate effectively across different functional groups and stakeholders.

**About you**:

- As a minimum, you will have an Associate Diploma in Survey, Electrical or Civil Engineering or equivalent significant experience in transmission line layout design drafting
- Knowledge and experience in AutoCad and/or Civil 3D drafting software and PLS-Cadd
- Working knowledge of line construction, the design principles of overhead lines, conductor mechanics, material strengths and of the cost drivers relating to overhead lines.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and manage time effectively to achieve tight deadlines in a multi-functional project environment.
- Experience in HV primary civil/structural infrastructure drafting, preferably in transmission line design (110kV and above).
- Knowledge and drafting capability with respect to the Transmission line structures (lattice towers & poles), foundations, hardware and fittings and associated works for transmission line structures
- Working knowledge of engineering survey and competencies with survey using Lidar (ALS), total station, differential GPS and RTK survey equipment
- Demonstrated competencies in project scoping, estimating, preparation of technical specifications and report writing associated with line design; awarding contracts and co-ordinating engineering surveys and pegging of transmission line structures
