**About the roles**

The Clinical Coder reports to the Manager, Clinical Coding Service CALHN for:

- Timely and accurate translation of medical and procedural terminology into International Classification of Diseases (Current Edition) Australian Modification (ICD-10-AM) and Australian Classification for Health Interventions (ACHI), for use in statistical analysis, epidemiology, hospital planning, research, and the auditing of quality of patient care. Fully experienced and qualified coders contribute significantly to the assignment of Australian Refined Diagnosis Related Groups (AR-DRGs) upon which Activity Based Funding and case mix for inpatients are dependent.
- Coding CALHN’s case mix which may include more complex and intricate matters due to our placement as the largest public health network in South Australia.

**Qualifications**

Satisfactory completion of the Health Information Management Association of Australia (HIMAA) coding course or equivalent, together with demonstrated competency in ICD-10-AM coding.

**Essential Requirements**:

- Current National Police Clearance (NPC)
- Immunisation screening as indicated in the role description. SA Health Services are required to implement the Addressing vaccine preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy in the workplace.
