**Description**:
This newly created, exciting and broad ambit role will work closely with the CRO team and the broader business to identify, assess, and respond to current and emerging risks with a key focus on business resilience. A keen eye on assurance / audit principles will be an advantage.

Your knowledge and practical exposure to risk management framework design and implementation and assurance together with a proportional response mindset and an understanding of the Mutual Banking environment will be key selection criteria for this role. Our support office is based in Melbourne; however you will have the option to work remotely, and we encourage all applicants over Australia to apply.

**A senior leader we can count on to**:
Provide second line of operational risk oversight including identifying how the bank can better prepare to navigate exciting but turbulent times.
Help us build our resilience. Facilitate risk assessments to help us plan for disruption and response.
Engage, collaborate and work with all staff to understand what resilience planning is and drive an acceptance and understanding of what it takes to run a safe responsive and modern bank.
Assisting teams to address gaps in operational discipline from a business continuity perspective.
Maintain the Bank’s business continuity program, ensuring it remains fit for purpose, meets required standards and continues to reflect better practice.
Co-ordinate the business continuity program annual planning cycle, supporting business units to exercise, review and update their business continuity plans.
Manage the business continuity quality assurance program, reviewing business continuity plans against the requirements outlined in individual Business Unit plans.
Assist the CRO in the development and execution of the Internal Audit program.
Work closely with business sponsors to both provide support and guidance with respect to preparation, delivery and provision of management response to observations.
Ensure delivery of Internal Audit reports in line with Risk and Compliance committee timelines.
Overseeing audit tracking governance, reporting and follow up remediation with observation owners.
Contribute to broader operational risk insights and risk assessments to support identification and risk mitigation.

**Skills and Experiences**:
**To be successful in this position, you will have**:
Constructive relationship management skills with key internal and external stakeholders and act as a key adviser to the Chief Risk Officer on a broad range of risk and compliance projects.
Collaborative style that is equally effective with staff and senior leaders within Defence.
Five years in senior leadership positions
Operations management experience
Previous experience in managing a multi-disciplinary team through organisational change.
Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor leaders to achieve success.
Excellent financial and strategic business skills.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a changing and evolving operational environment.
