**Role**:
**Duty hours: 8.30am - 3.30pm. Two days per week (13 hours).**

Undertakes routine tasks that are usually carried out under close supervision and direction. Work that carries some degree of independence will generally involve a limited number of tasks performed on a regular basis where priorities are clear, procedures are well established and direction is readily available.

Work has little scope for deviation. Problems can usually be solved by reference to well documented procedures and instructions and clearly established practices. Deviation from established procedures will require reference to others for guidance and direction. Assistance is readily available when problems arise. An experienced employee at range 1 will exercise limited judgement within clearly defined guidelines and well established practices that relate specifically to the tasks performed.

Does not carry responsibility for the work of others. More experienced employees will provide basic guidance and advice to others relating to tasks within the work area.

An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students, but must not include duties of teaching as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students cannot be required except where it is an integral part of the employee's position or involves supervision of students individually or in small groups, in controlled circumstances, where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.

Qualification requirements do not operate at range 1. Certification requirements may be required to legally perform specific tasks - e.g. driver's licence, first aid, safe food handling.

An ES Inclusion Aide assists in addressing the educational needs of students with identified learning needs and those funded through the Program for Students with Disability (PSD), under the leadership of the Inclusion Leader, who acts on behalf of the Business Manager and Principal.

The person we are looking for will have experience in assisting students with physical and learning disabilities, and be prepared to willingly participate and work within our Vermont Values.

The role may include working with students who present with challenging behaviours, and/or who require assistance with mobility (wheelchair) and toileting.

**Specific work activities include**:

- To work as part of an effective Inclusion team, under the direction of the ES Inclusion Leader.
- To work with Inclusion students, both in the classroom and in other settings, in accordance with the programs and strategies designed to meet their needs.
- To attend school camps to support Inclusion students.
- To support classroom teachers in the delivery of educational programs for these students from Year 7 to Year 12.
- To provide curriculum support and assistance to enable the students to participate and communicate in educational activities.
- To assist with the communication between these students and their teachers, particularly the interpretation and implementation of instructions and learning profiles.
- To assist classroom teachers in the preparation of material for lessons for these students through such skills as word processing, enlarging, copying and producing resources.
- To support these students with their safety, mobility, social interactions, self-esteem and independence during class time, and where appropriate, at recess and lunchtime.
- To assist these students with college routines including timetables, lockers, homework and college rules.
- To assist these students with mobility to classrooms, on excursions and camps, during work experience and in the college yard, where necessary.
