The Psychosocial Worker will work alongside our AOD Practitioners to provide non-clinical, individual support and group-based activities (for people experiencing mental illness) to enhance day-to-day living skills, build social skills, increase social interactions, improve overall wellbeing and participate in employment & education. Support may be episodic and may occur across a number of domains, including physical and mental health, employment, substance use, social isolation, family violence, access to appropriate housing, and navigating the legal system.

Our work with Vietnamese, African and Burmese communities is undertaken by bi-cultural and bi-lingual AOD Practitioners, with an in-depth understanding of addiction and recovery, as well as local knowledge on community, hierarchy, and culture. CatholicCare’s Drug & Alcohol Program is fully funded by the North Western Melbourne Primary Health Network (NWMPHN).

**Specifically, the position is responsible for**:

- Individualised support with mentoring, coaching, service orientation, digital literacy, exercise activities.
- Information sessions on health eating, cooking, budgeting, internet & IT skills, housing, NDIS eligibility.
- Group activities involving yoga, exercise, dance, art, body movement, computers, cooking, gardening.
- Excursions, e.g., to a museum, art gallery, library, Victoria Market.

A flexible approach will be taken to tailor supports to ensure they meet the needs of the client as they change over time. Clients will be supported and empowered to make decisions about their wellbeing.

**To be considered for this position, applicants require**:

- Tertiary qualifications in social welfare, community development or another relevant discipline and/or relevant community work experience.
- Ability to deliver group work and one on one sessions with clients from CALD backgrounds: with the aim to enhance day-to-day living skills, increase social interactions and improve overall wellbeing. Including working with clients negatively impacted by consumption of alcohol and other drugs.
- As a condition of employment, CatholicCare Victoria as an employer will collect, record and store vaccination information on employees where required in line with the Privacy Act. All CatholicCare Victoria workers are to be fully vaccinated (boosted), unless they are an Excepted Person for medical reasons. All applicants must therefore be able to comply with this requirement. This means that successful applicants will be required to provide evidence of their vaccination status to CatholicCare Victoria prior to commencement of employment._
