The Taungurung Land and Waters Council (TLaWC) is the voice of the Taungurung people - a people with a strong sense of shared identity, self-determining in the management of Country and culture.

TLaWC’s focus is to preserve the past, protect the present and strengthen the future of the Taungurung Nation, which occupies a large part of Central Victoria.

The primary focus of Field Services Officer the role is to assist in the delivery of TLaWC statutory functions as a Registered Aboriginal Party as well as undertake and support in-house projects directed towards the management and protection of Taungurung Cultural Heritage values.

**Key Duties**
- Perform CHMP fieldwork and Taungurung-led projects
- Take responsibility for completing on-site works in accordance with the agreed Cultural Heritage Management Plan (CHMP) in order to meet both sponsor expectations and TLaWC standards
- Conduct artefact analysis, as required, in relation to Cultural Heritage Management Plans
- Conduct compliance visits for proposed permits within an Aboriginal sensitivity zone to ensure compliance with the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006 (AHA)
- Any other on-Country duties, as directed by the Director, RAP
**Key Selection Criteria**
- Experience undertaking archeological fieldwork
- An understanding of Cultural Heritage management processes in Victoria
- Excellent time management skills
- Prepare to work safely in the construction industry whitecard (Nationally Accredited Unit Code: CPCCWHS1001) or willingness to undertake training
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal people
- Knowledge and understanding of the political, social and economic issues affecting Aboriginal Victorians and, specifically, of the provisions of the Traditional Owner Settlement Act, AHA2006
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise, engage, coordinate, and negotiate
- Physically fit and able to undertake field-based labouring tasks
- Ability to work effectively within small teams
- A willingness to follow instruction and communicate effectively with other TLaWC staff
- A current Victorian Driver’s Licence
