Sunshine Hospital's Paediatric Emergency Department is on the lookout for a compassionate and experienced clinical leader to take on the role of Director – Paediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM). This is a unique opportunity to join a high-performing team within one of Victoria's busiest and most vibrant health services, catering to a richly diverse and growing community in Melbourne's West.
Western Health's PEM team is nationally and internationally recognised for its commitment to "training with kindness" while delivering high-acuity care with empathy, teamwork, and clinical excellence. As the Director, you will enhance this commendable reputation by supporting the development of junior medical staff, guiding clinical practices, and leading strategic and operational enhancements across the service.
What You'll Be Doing
- Providing clinical leadership and direct care in a dynamic paediatric emergency environment
- Supervising and mentoring both junior and senior medical staff
- Overseeing quality assurance, governance, KPIs, and budget performance
- Promoting education, research, and simulation training initiatives
- Focusing on innovative ways to enhance services and establish the Paediatric ED department as a leader in its field
What We're Looking For
- Specialist qualification in Paediatric Emergency Medicine (FRACP and/or FACEM)
- Current AHPRA Specialist Registration
- 2-5 years of experience in management, such as Deputy Director
- Excellent Communication Skills: Proficient in guiding teams through change and pursuing departmental excellence
- Empathetic and Caring Nature: Naturally motivates others to follow their lead
