Job Title: Learning Assistant

We are seeking applicants for full-time and/or part-time Learning Assistant positions at St George Christian School. Successful applicants will work on student days only, with the specific days to be negotiated.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To support students with additional needs in achieving their full potential through the implementation of teaching and learning strategies.
  • To work under the direction of a teacher and collaborate with the class teacher to reinforce classroom teaching.
  • To assist students with organisation, social competence, accessing activities, and appropriate behaviour.
  • To undertake supervision of the class to enable the teacher to support students who have additional needs.
  • To implement individualised plans to meet the needs of students with disabilities or additional learning needs.

Requirements:

  • To have a strong understanding of how students learn best and the ability to adapt teaching strategies accordingly.
  • To have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and staff.
  • To be proactive and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • To hold a valid Working With Children Check and VIT registration.
  • To subscribe wholeheartedly to the St George Christian School Statement of Faith and be an active Christian with church involvement.
