Support Assistant Role
The Support Assistant will play a vital role in enhancing the student learning experience and helping students reach their full potential.
This position involves working under the direction of a teacher to support students with additional needs, including those with neurological and learning disorders, physical disabilities, and behavioural disorders.
Responsibilities include implementing teaching and learning strategies such as one-on-one or small group instruction, co-operative learning, scaffolding, modelling and worked examples. The successful applicant may also be assigned to support a specific student who requires individualised assistance.
Collaboration with the class teacher is essential to reinforce classroom teaching and assist students with organisation, social competence, accessing activities and appropriate behaviour.
Key Requirements
- A supportive and caring attitude towards students with additional needs
- Ability to work effectively under the direction of a teacher
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Capacity to implement teaching and learning strategies
- Understanding of child safety principles and policies
Selection Criteria
The successful applicant will be selected based on their ability to demonstrate a strong commitment to supporting students with additional needs, excellent communication skills, and a willingness to work collaboratively with teachers.
