Hocking Primary School are seeking to establish a pool of Education Assistant - Special Needs (EASN) for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

Hocking Primary School (PS) is an Independent Public School, established in 2008. The school has a developed a strong culture of collaboration with all stakeholders and is highly regarded in the community.

The school prides itself on delivering curriculum in a safe, fun filled and collaborative environment using the resources and technology infrastructure of a newly built school. Every learning area is equipped with an interactive whiteboard and connected to a fully integrated wireless network. Desktop computers, laptops and portable tablet devices are provided as tools to enhance learning and to tap into the intuitive learning of students.

The Role

As an EASN you would work under general supervision and guidance performing tasks that discretion and judgement in achieving clearly defined outcomes determined by the teacher.

  • Suitable applicants should provide feedback on education and therapy programs and participate in the evaluation process relating to the achievement of goals in special education.
  • Strong organisational skills and communication skills are important to collaboratively manage classroom resources and in providing feedback to teachers, parents and therapists.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work as part of a team, are highly desired in performing special education programs and building strong and positive relationships with students.

Eligibility

To work with us, you must:

  • be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
  • obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start; and
  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.

    • Demonstrate good written and oral communication skills, including the ability to interact with students with special needs, parents and teaching professionals on the provision of educational programs, and to assist teachers in understanding students where necessary.

    • Demonstrate good interpersonal skills, including the ability to work as part of a team in the evaluation of educational programs, including special education and therapy programs where these have been implemented.

    • Demonstrate good organisational skills that will assist in the delivery and development of effective education programs to students and subsequent feedback to teaching professionals or psychologists.

    • Demonstrate ability to assist teachers or therapists in implementing educational programs, including special education and, should this be a requirement of the position, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.

    • Demonstrate knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.

    • Demonstrate ability to assist with general health and well-being of students.
