The RoleAs a Special Needs Education Assistant (EA), under teacher direction, you would assist in the education programs and in promoting a supportive and inclusive learning environment. Education assistants assist teachers in the delivery of planned education programs to assist students to reach their full potential through the development of their academic, social, emotional, and physical skills including the operation of computers and digital technologies. Within this role you would provide feedback when required on education and therapy programs and participate in the evaluation process relating to the achievement of goals in special education.
You should have a high level of interpersonal skills and work collaboratively with staff members to meet the needs of students. Suitable applicants will ideally possess the knowledge and experience of working with students with a range of disabilities and learning difficulties and the ability to support student growth, both academically and socially, within the classroom setting.
In addition, the Lead Education Assistant would lead and mentor Madeley PS EAs and assist in the Professional Development of EAs. The suitable applicants should provide direct support to Administration, assisting with timetabling, data spreadsheets and general recording of student assessments and data. They will also be responsible for planning EA professional learning opportunities.

EligibilityTo work with us, you must:
- be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.

- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.

- Demonstrated considerable knowledge and understanding of the delivery of education programs and/or behaviour management plans; and ability to identify problems and assist teachers and other Education Assistants in the development of strategies and solutions.
- Demonstrated well developed oral communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to lead, mentor, coach, induct and train other Education Assistants and professional teams, including providing advice and evaluating education programs.
- Demonstrated well developed written communication skills, including report writing, and the ability to coordinate, collect and present student data at a whole school community level in a meaningful way.
- Demonstrated well developed organisational skills, including the ability to coordinate staff rosters and relief to assist in the delivery of effective education programs.
