Salary: $129,464 - $142,665+ superannuation and leave loading

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Project Officer to join the Silica Program Team and help drive forward safety in NSW workplaces. The Silica Program Team will play a critical role in supporting the implementation of new silica legislation that commenced 1 July and upcoming commencing 1 September 2024.

Reporting to the Silica Program Manager, this role assists the manager to deliver major priority projects for the current SafeWork NSW Silica program. The team will develop and deliver programs and tools to ensure awareness and clear understanding of regulatory obligations and will help build capability across a wide range of impacted customers early in the reform process, targeting engineered stone in construction and other manufacturing facilities.

You will be working with a variety of teams including technical specialist, operations, WHS policy and shared services to deliver positive workplace safety outcomes in NSW.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Lead the development of communications, education materials and programs to assist the achieve safe outcomes in silica impacted businesses in NSW.
• Build strong stakeholder relationships, including other SafeWork NSW teams to enable the delivery of advice and education programs throughout NSW.
• Prepare Drive responses into parliamentary requests such as Budget estimates, House Folder Notes, Ministerial correspondence and reporting and media enquiries.
• Understand and use data and insights to ensure the program delivers tools and products that reflect the needs of customers.

About you

As a Senior Project Officer in the Silica Program team, you will:

• Have the demonstrated ability to effectively balance competing demands, often under tight time pressure.
• Possess strong written and verbal communication skills and excel in stakeholder management.
• Be self-driven and display curiosity in comprehensively understanding the issues and stakeholders with whom we engage.
• Preferably, have experience working with technical specialists and utilising technical information to develop and execute communication programs aimed at the community.
