We are currently seeking a confident and adaptable Cover Supervisor to join a team of secondary school staff in Hertfordshire.

As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a key role in maintaining continuity of learning in the absence of teaching staff, ensuring students remain engaged, focused, and supported during their lessons. Beginning September 2025.

Duties as a Cover Supervisor:

  • Deliver pre-set work to classes across a range of subjects

  • Manage classroom behaviour and ensure a calm, safe learning environment

  • Ensure students remain on task and complete the work set

  • Report back to the relevant teacher or senior leader on progress and incidents

  • Uphold school policies and procedures at all times

  • Support students with queries about the work where appropriate

Ideal Cover Supervisor:

  • Previous experience working in a school or with young people (desirable)

  • Strong classroom management and interpersonal skills as a Cover Supervisor.

  • A proactive, flexible, and professional attitude

  • The ability to engage and motivate students aged 11–16

  • A degree or relevant qualifications (preferred but not essential)

  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one
