About the role

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Backend Software Engineer to join our Engineering Team. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a seasoned professional with a strong background in backend software development, who is keen to contribute to a collaborative and innovative environment.

Working at Australia's leading Digital Marketing Insights technology company, under the guidance of a great team, you will be working on a wide range of projects, from developing the latest in AI-driven insights, to integrating with third-party APIs, and architecting and building a powerful backend data collection and processing system.

Role & responsibilities:

• Collaborate with other developers to design, develop, and implement scalable and robust backend systems.
• Lead the development of new features, ensuring seamless integration with frontend technologies via GraphQL and REST APIs.
• Architect, build, and enhance backend data collection and processing using technologies such as PostgreSQL, GraphQL, Hasura, and AWS.
• Debug, troubleshoot, and optimize complex backend issues, ensuring high performance and reliability across all environments.
• Write maintainable, well-documented, and clean code, adhering to best practices and coding standards.
• Actively participate in and lead code reviews, providing constructive feedback and ensuring code quality.
• Participate in agile development processes, including stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives, fostering a collaborative team environment.
• Mentor junior engineers, sharing knowledge and contributing to their professional growth.
• Consistently research and apply new backend development technologies and techniques to enhance our platform.

Experience:

• Must be a degree holder in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 5+ years of demonstrable experience in backend software development, with a strong focus on cloud platforms.
• Extensive experience (5+ years) with AWS services and infrastructure.
• Proficiency in multiple backend programming languages (e.g., Ruby, Python, Java, Go, Node.js).
• Experience with Ruby is a plus but not required.
• Flexible and adaptable approach to work, with a strong agile mindset.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and exceptional at taking a project from conception to implementation.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship management skills (must have strong written and verbal English).
• Eager to learn, take on new challenges, and drive continuous improvement.
• Passionate about delivering impactful results and contributing to a high-performing team.

The role is full-time, hybrid (with 2-3 days in office per week).
